Sandy Montgomery, M.A., CSAC
Counselor II
Sandy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 1984 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 1986, both from Radford University. She was certified as a substance abuse counselor in the State of Virginia in 1994. Sandy has worked in the field of substance use/addiction for over 35 years. She has provided individual and group counseling and prevention services in outpatient, inpatient, academic, and Juvenile Court Service settings. After working at the Mount Regis inpatient facility in 2020, she returned in 2023 and is now providing addiction services in the Mount Regis Blacksburg Intensive Outpatient Program. She provides psychoeducation regarding the disease of addiction and the recovery process for those individuals appropriate for this level of care. Sandy has both professional experience and personal experience with those struggling with addiction. She has several family members who have successfully completed Mount Regis and continue to enjoy sobriety today. She also has several family members who have succumbed to this disease. These experiences have provided her with deep compassion and understanding for those suffering from this disease and their families. Sandy can offer hope to those struggling with addiction.
