Counselor II
Sarah Banks is a primary counselor at Mount Regis Center. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a secondary degree in German. She completed her Master of Education in Counseling in 2024 at Virginia Tech. Sarah began her work focusing on addiction in 2020 while doing in-home work with people in active addiction and recovery. She is passionate about supporting individuals living with substance use disorders. She focuses her work on identity development to facilitate re-establishing the sober self. Sarah is passionate about stigma and stereotypes and how these concepts impact substance use and relapse. She strives to treat patients as experts on their own experiences to create space for introspection. She invites patients to engage in clarifying a sense of self that is genuine and authentic.
