Sonnet Conner, CSAC-S, MA
Counselor II
Sonnet Conner is a CSAC-S Counselor II who has been with Mount Regis Center in Salem (an inpatient SUD treatment program) since June 2023. She is a person-centered counselor, passionate about connecting with individuals and empathically helping them on their journey of self-discovery, meaning-making, and mental health wellness. Sonnet is theoretically grounded in existentialism and relational-cultural therapies while integrating theories of attachment, SFBT, Gestalt, and others depending on a client’s presenting needs. She is also an ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) trained therapist, a rapid eye movement protocol proven effective in treating PTSD, depression, grief, phobias, anxiety, and addiction. She is finishing her graduate studies and will graduate in May 2024 with her MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Bluefield University. She plans to complete her residency at Mount Regis. Sonnet has served on the Roanoke Area Counselors Association (ROACA) board as secretary for the past two years and, initially, as a graduate liaison. Sonnet lives in Roanoke with her husband, three children, two dogs, and a cat. She recharges through time with family, reading, music, gardening, practicing mindfulness, and being outdoors.
